Longines Comet Mystery dial Ref. 8475 vintage 1970s. Hand-wound mechanical movement, caliber 702 with 17 jewels. Steel case, diameter 34.5 mm x 41 mm, rectangular “cushion” shape with rounded sides and screw-down case back. The “mystery” dial is its most distinctive feature: instead of traditional hands, the hour is indicated by a luminous arrow on a black central disc, the minutes by a luminous dot on an outer rotating ring. The hands “float,” hence the “mystery” effect. The “mystery dial” design makes it one of the most creative and original models of the 1970s, an unconventional interpretation of the way of indicating time. This piece is in exceptional N.O.S. (New Old Stock) condition with its unworn vintage strap.
